About Eoin

My name is Eoin Murphy, and I am a musician, producer, and songwriter based out of Philadelphia, PA. My musical journey began at a very young age, I began playing drums at age 3 and then shortly followed them up with piano and guitar. I attended the University of the Arts in Philadelphia where I received a BFA in Guitar Performance with a minor in MBET (Music Business, Entrepreneurship, and Technology.) Since graduating UArts in 2018, I have enjoyed a flourishing career as a touring musician as well as producer for many artists across all genres.

I have toured extensively in the states and worked with numerous high profile artists, some of these artists include Philly hip hop legend Beanie Segal, Grammy nominated vocalist Avery Wilson, the legendary Harold Melvin Estate, and up and coming R&B artist N3WYRKLA. When not touring I can be found working on my own music or lending a hand in the projects of some of my fellow musicians/friends such as TreWay & The Now Generation, StarDestroyers, and Tuck Ryan. When it comes to teaching I truly believe that fun is the greatest motivator to learn a new instrument, and want to create an environment where the student is genuinely excited to learn and further their craft each week.

When did you start playing music, what brought you to it?

I started playing music at age 3, after seeing music videos of Garth Brooks on Tv and loving it!

What are some musical goals you hope to achieve in the future?

I hope to work on a Grammy winning album either as a musician or producer, and would like to perform at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver, CO.

What other instruments, aside from the ones you teach, have you played before?

I have spent a brief amount of time playing banjo/mandolin.

What style(s) of music do you like to play the most? Why?

I love to play pop, rock, and R&B music. Philadelphia has such a rich history of Soul/R&B music so its truly an amazing place to learn and play that style of music.

What advice could you give to someone who has just begun learning music?

Have fun and be patient! Music is such a beautiful thing but it can be challenging at times. Having patience for yourself and remembering that learning music is supposed to be a joyful experience is key to sticking with it!

What are some of your favorite teaching moments?

Seeing a young ensemble I taught grow into a fully formed band that has continued to play shows over the years.

What is a musical obstacle that you remember overcoming? How did you overcome it?

Making a living as a musician can be quite daunting, so each year that I am able to further my career is an accomplishment in my eyes.
